Navigate Continuous Improvement

 3.5.d: Navigate Continuous Improvement💻

Connected learners cultivate the skills necessary to remain life-long learners of technology. Educators have access to continuous learning platforms through Coursera, made available to teachers throughout the Barbadian educational system.

Professionals can ascertain new knowledge and skills at their own pace, with the convenience of online learning. Weekly recommendations are emailed in a variety of curriculum areas to keep us updated. This includes topics like: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education for Teachers (Macquaire University IBM) and Design your Virtual Classroom with Canva.

Additionally, tertiary Institutions such as the Barbados Community College (BCC) and the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP), provide avenues for training to be better digital citizens. BCC offers a Certificate in Principles of Microsoft Office, while BIMAP carries a Certificate in Information Technology (part-time), for those interested in advancing their skills.

Navigating continuous improvement is not limited to personal development. Development at the institutional level is also paramount. At my school, the most recent gift of technological equipment had been donated by Mr. Ryan Pannell through the Aaron and Christina Foundation, about seven years ago, (see link below). 76 Samsung Galaxy Tablets were gifted to us. We were overjoyed by this generosity and humbled by the kindness of the Foundation. It's hard financially as an institution to stay current with new devices.

It is great to see how connected learners are empowered to be lifelong learners of technology! The access to continuous learning platforms like Coursera is a great initiative, offering educators the flexibility to grow their skills at their own pace. The convenience of online learning, paired with weekly recommendations across various curriculum areas, ensures that teachers stay current and engaged in their professional development. This approach not only supports educators' growth but also enhances the overall educational experience for students.
